Come early to the library to work in the Heritage Room. The Just Do Something Shared Interest Group informally meets from 10 a.m. – Noon on the 2nd Saturday of the month. Bring what you plan to work on or use the Heritage Room resources. This is your time to further your genealogy journey!

About our speaker: Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, COGS member Doug White attended North Georgia College and Georgia State University graduating with a BA degree in Accounting. After college, Doug served 3 years on active duty in the US Army as an Air Defense Artillery Officer (Platoon Leader and Battery Executive Officer) in the 4th Mechanized Division at Fort Carson, Colorado and served another 13 years in the Army Reserves. Following active duty, he worked for Colonial Pipeline in Atlanta where he held various positions in Accounting, Human Resources, and Business Development. While working for Colonial, he earned an MBA in Accounting and his CPA license. He retired in 2017 as Manager of General Accounting after a 35-year career. Doug and his wife Susan have 2 children (twin son and daughter) and 5 grandsons ranging in age from 14 to 3. They are now living in Watkinsville to be near their daughter and her family. In retirement, Doug enjoys volunteering and staying active through jogging, yardwork, and traveling. He also enjoys reading military history and, of course, genealogy.
