Scanning Days

As a follow-up to our program with Thomas MacEntee on January 16, 2021 (You Can Do This: Photo Organizing and Preservation), COGS is offering a special opportunity for members and guests to continue with their personal photo (or family document) preservation project. Two scanning days were arranged for our membership through a collaboration between the Clarke-Oconee Genealogical Society and the Heritage Room at the Athens-Clarke County Library:

When? Wednesday, May 12, 2021 was reserved for members, but Wednesday, June 16, 2021 is open for members and guests.

Where? Heritage Room at the A-CC Library

Time? 45-minute appointments, beginning on the hour, from 11am – 4pm
(six appointments available, each day); scanners will be cleaned between appointments; an appointment is required to participate

How? Sign up for an appointment time using the link provided in the May 5th COGS email to our members or through the Heritage Room’s email to their mailing list subscribers.

What? Flatbed scanner for documents and pictures and a large overhead scanner for sections of books, pages from family Bibles, and over-sized pictures or documents

What do I need? Bring your pictures, documents, and a flash drive!!

A COGS officer will greet you when you first arrive for your appointment, and a Heritage Room staff member will be there to describe how to use the equipment. Please remember, however, that this is considered an independent activity.

We hope this opportunity will help you make real progress on your family projects!
