Participants in our May Marathon enjoyed it so much they asked us to hold another index review! Sign up today for our hands-on 1950 Census Indexing Marathon in July, held in the 2nd floor computer lab at the Athens – Clarke County Library on Baxter Street in Athens, GA. A volunteer will be available to help you get started and answer questions. Let’s help index the 1950 U.S. Census together!

Family Review is faster and easier than before! Now in Family Review you only review the following fields – street name, house and apartment number, dwelling serial number, name, relationship, race, age, and birthplace. Name Review is complete for most of the states (including Georgia).

We would love to have you join us in this nationwide community effort to help make 1950 Census images searchable for free on FamilySearch.org!

There are 5 two-hour time slots available on Wednesday, July 13 and 4 two-hour time slots available on Saturday, July 16. Nine people at a time can volunteer for each time slot, and you may volunteer for multiple time slots. This in-person event is free and open to the public. Reserve your seat by using the link below.

Helpful Tips:

Before reviewing the computer-generated index for the first time, it is very helpful to read Help with reviewing families on the FamilySearch website.

As you work on reviewing the index, you can click the ? at the top of the page to search for additional guidance when you have a question.

Make sure you are signed into your free FamilySearch account. The direct link to the 1950 Census indexing page is https://www.familysearch.org/getinvolved/1950. You can view your individual statistics and group statistics beneath the map on this page. If you are a COGS member, please join our 1950 Census indexing group at FamilySearch. (The link to join was sent via email to all COGS members.) By joining, you will help our society receive recognition for volunteering in the 1950 U.S. Census Community Project for FamilySearch.
